Function & Performance
Physical Therapy Services in Kansas City
Physical therapy aims to not only remove your pain but to restore your function and better your performance. The initial goals of therapy will be to reduce the inflammation and irritation of the tissues, improve tissue quality and joint range of motion and increase strength of weekend muscles. As therapy progresses, though, we look to return you to full function in your daily life and help you excel in your performance.
Chiropractic vs. Physical Therapy
Our team of physical therapists and chiropractors both using cutting edge treatments and evidence-based practice with all of their clients. So what’s the difference?
While chiropractic school emphasizes assessment and treatment of joint dysfunctions and physical therapy school emphasizes rehabilitation through exercise, all of our doctors utilize the same techniques to reduce your pain and improve your function. Whether you see a physical therapist or a chiropractor at F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic, you likely won’t be able to tell the difference in your doctor’s credentials!
Our physical therapists are well trained with extensive experience in treating post surgical cases and producing optimal outcomes for their patients. While many conditions can be effectively treated conservatively, some conditions do require surgical intervention to maximize function. The therapists at F.I.T. follow specific protocols and guidelines of all surgical procedures and will help you achieve the goals that are important to you.
F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic treats concussions by first performing a thorough interview and evaluation to understand the symptoms you are experiencing. Testing will be conducted in categories such as vision, muscle strength, coordination, reflexes, hearing, smell and memory.
F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic uses a combination of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and functional movements as part of the rehabilitative exercise protocol for all of our physical therapy patients. Our emphasis on proper movement patterns allows patients to return to full function more efficiently and effectively.
Once recovery of function has been reached, we transition to essentially maintenance care to prevent recurrences and keep you moving well. We are always available for your continued care whether dealing with recurrent injury or new injury. Consistent check in's with your doctor can help keep those little aches from becoming big pains.
