Peripheral Neurogenic Pain Neural Entrapment to Neural Dysfunction Exercise Prescription

COURSE OVERVIEW

2 day course on assessment and treatment of patients dominated by Nocioceptive Pain Mechanisms involving the peripheral nerve. This course assists in identifying neural entrapments and dysfunctions, and/or the beginning signs of central sensitivity in all parts of the body. Interventions that will be covered are patient education, exercise prescription/progression, and active manual therapy for neurogenic mechanical problems. Also, video, paper cases and live patient demonstrations (when available) to enrich class participants experience by understanding the importance of the specific “words” and “moves” necessary to reverse neurogenic mechanical nociceptive pain mechanisms. This course follows the textbook “A World of Hurt: A Guide to Classifying Pain”.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THIS COURSE:

  • Differentiate subjective and objective clinical characteristics in peripheral neurogenic and central sensitivity pain mechanisms.
  • Differentiate mechanical syndromes related to neural entrapments, neural dysfunction and central sensitivity.
  • Patient education and exercise prescription for mechanical syndromes related to neural entrapments, neural dysfunction in the spine, upper and lower extremities.
  • Classify the dominant pain mechanism and prescribe patient education and active care intervention to paper, video and live patient demonstrations.
  • Manual therapy techniques for entrapment sites.
  • World of Hurt Textbook will be available for purchase at the course at a significant discount.
