Dealing with “Jumper’s Knee” aka Patellar Tendonitis? 🤕 Don’t let knee pain slow you down! These 3 exercises can help you find relief and improve your knee strength and stability 💪 Give them a try and let us know how it goes!
1️⃣ Single Leg Stance TKE: Stand on one leg and place a resistance band around the back of your knee. Bend your knee slightly allowing the band to pull your knee forward, then extend your knee returning to the starting position. Do 3 sets of 10-15 reps on each leg.
2️⃣ Long Sitting SLR: Sit on the ground with your legs extended in front of you. Lift one leg off the ground, keeping it straight, and hold for a few seconds before lowering it down. Do 3 sets of 10-15 reps on each leg.
3️⃣ Reverse Nordic Curls: Kneel on a soft surface with your feet directly under your butt. Slowly lower your body backwards towards the ground, keeping your spine in a neutral position, bracing your core. Lower yourself enough to get a good stretch of the quads, then bring yourself back to the starting position. You can also perform this exercise using an anchored band for support back to the starting position. Do 3 sets of 8-10 reps.
Remember to start slowly and listen to your body. If you experience any additional pain or discomfort, stop and give us a call.

🖐️ Custom Wrist Orthosis 🖐️
During the visit, a wrist extension splint was custom-made for the patient, which allowed all fingers to remain free from immobilization. The purpose of this orthosis was to support the wrist in extension while the distal radius bone was healing from a surgical repair. The patient could work on limited wrist range of motion under therapist supervision by removing the splint, while keeping the surgical stabilization intact.
Customizable orthoses, such as this wrist splint, provide increased comfort for patients compared to universal pre-fabricated braces. They are uniquely shaped to each patient and can be modified easily as post-surgical swelling changes or the level of immobilization changes.
Patients are often pleased with the customized orthosis, stating that it is much more comfortable, allows their arm to breathe, and can be removed for a break or washing.

💫 Meet the Team 💫
Let us introduce you to our extraordinary Leawood team as we celebrate their 1 Year Anniversary 🎉 🎈 🎊
This multidisciplinary team is comprised of Sean Stockwell DPT, Korbyn Steadman DPT, our PCCs Alexis Her and Hannah Lynch, Priscilla Cody DPT, and Matt Cummings CHTOT.
Our Leawood location is super special because it shares space with our orthopedic partner SANO Orthopedics offering more comprehensive care with direct access to cutting edge surgical techniques, regenerative medicine, joint replacement and more. Bridging this gap between orthopedic procedures and therapy not only improves the overall patient experience but also makes the recovery process quicker and more efficient getting our patients back to the speed of life.
Did you know?
Our Leawood team boasts nearly 40 years of combined experience in the field 🧠
Matt loves his vests ALMOST as much as the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes 🏈
Korbyn drives a jaguar, bought his first belt 1 month ago, eats 10 chewy granola bars a day between patients, has too many tattoos to count and he’s not afraid to sport a pink polo from time to time 👩🏼🎤
Priscilla is a big cat lady, “if I can’t do it I don’t make you do it!”, do not disturb before 8am and allergic to caffeine 😺
Sean is 1 of 7, Certified Spinal Manipulative Therapist (CSMT), and screams can be heard from Sean’s room as early as 6am 😱
