What to Expect at a Chiropractic Appointment

Consultation

The first step in the chiropractic process is meant to get to know you and your unique physiology. Therefore, your first chiropractic care visit at our Kansas City location will consist of an initial consultation and examination followed by a tailored treatment plan. We’ll discuss your health history, and then go through a series of screenings to determine how our team can create an individualized chiropractic treatment plan that addresses your goals.

Planning

Your chiropractor will explain their findings and identify what may be contributing to your problem. Then, we’ll review our recommended course of treatment, talk about your short- and long-term goals, and go over the indicators of success—both large and small. We offer a variety of highly customized chiropractic techniques to help you get back to the speed of life and achieve your overall health and fitness goals.

Symptom Management

Your first visits with our chiropractors will focus on reducing and managing your pain and symptoms. This involves reeducation of tissue, modification of movements or habits, as well as various soft tissue treatments designed for pain management and joint stability. Our goal is to reduce the intensity, frequency, and duration of your pain and symptoms.

Corrective and Restorative Chiropractic Care

Once we eliminate your pain, our goals shift to the restoration and improvement of your work duties, daily activities, recreational activities, exercise, etc. Pain may go away, but the dysfunctions that caused the symptoms often remain. Care in this phase is focused on activity and performance and is focused on functional movements,, exercises, and things you can do at home, in the gym or at work. This can take between 4 and 6 weeks.

Rehabilitation Exercises

You may be looking for a chiropractor to help you with injury recovery. F.I.T. Muscle & Joint Clinic can help. We offer injury rehabilitation from our team of Kansas City chiropractors and physical therapists to help you get back to the speed of life. If you’ve had surgery our team of physical therapists are ready to help you with your post-surgical rehab. Not only do we help you perform rehabilitative exercises during your appointment, but we’ll also send you home with additional, safe exercises you can do at home in between visits. We utilize a combination of rehabilitative exercises such as DNS and functional movements to improve movement patterns and performance.

Wellness Care

Once you’ve recovered, you’ll transition to maintenance care or as-needed care to prevent recurrences and ensure long-term success. We’re always available to provide continued care, whether you’re dealing with a recurrent injury or a new injury. Especially if you play sports and are looking to continue a highly athletic/active lifestyle, our chiropractors can advise you on injury prevention and sports performance to keep your game strong.
