Chiropractic Osteoarthritis Treatments in Kansas City
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease that is sometimes referred to as “wear and tear” on joints.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and chronic conditions of the joints. It occurs when the protective cartilage of the joints begins to wear away which leads to the bones wearing down over time. This can lead to pain, swelling in the joint, and difficulty performing full range of motion. It most commonly affects the joints of the hip, knee, spine, hand and foot. Individuals at higher risk for developing OA include those that are over the age of 65, overweight, have had prior injuries to the joint, certain occupations, genetics and being of female gender.

- Crepitus (grating sensation)

Treatments for Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis cannot be reversed; however, it can be managed with a combination of the right exercises, manual treatments, and lifestyle changes. Many people who receive chiropractic osteoarthritis treatments can often prolong or prevent their need for a joint replacement. Should you need a joint replacement, physical therapy prior to surgery has been shown to improve your outcomes afterwards.
