Back to Running, Done Right

Return to Running Program in Kansas City

When Something’s Off in Your Stride

You head out for a run, and everything feels fine, until it doesn’t. Same spot. Same timing. Maybe it fades when you stop or maybe it lingers after. Either way, it keeps coming back. At some point, it stops feeling random. That’s where F.I.T. providers step in—breaking down what’s happening and helping your body handle running more consistently.

We Help Treat

Pain That Shows Up Mid-Run

Pain that builds during a run usually isn’t random. It reflects how your body is handling repeated load over time. Once a certain threshold is reached, the same area starts to break down. That’s why it often shows up at a similar point instead of right away.

Recurring Injuries & Setbacks

If the same issue returns after rest, the underlying problem likely hasn’t changed. The tissue may calm down, but the way your body moves or absorbs load stays the same. Without addressing that, each return to running follows the same pattern.

Tightness, Pulling, or Instability

When something feels tight or off, it’s often your body compensating to keep movement going. That compensation can shift stress into areas that aren’t prepared for it. Over time, that’s what turns a small issue into something that limits how you run.

How We Address What’s Slowing You Down

Once F.I.T. providers understand what’s breaking down, treatment shifts toward helping your body handle running again. The focus is on making progress that actually holds up outside the clinic.

Returning Without Setbacks

You don’t jump straight back into running and hope it holds. F.I.T. providers guide how and when you start running again, based on how your body responds along the way. As tolerance improves, volume and intensity follow, so you’re not restarting the same cycle every few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I should stop running or keep going?

If the same concern shows up at the same point, worsens as you continue, or lingers after the run, that’s your body telling you something hasn’t adapted yet. Pushing through it usually just delays progress. You don’t always need to stop completely, but you do need to adjust. That’s where a return to running program in Kansas City can help runners rebuild trust in their bodies.

Can I still run while going through treatment?

In many cases, yes—but it depends on how your body is responding right now. Some runners can continue with modified volume or intensity, while others need a short reset before building back in. The goal isn’t to take running away, it’s keeping it in a way your body can handle. That’s how a return to running program in Kansas City stays focused on progress.

How long will it take to get back to running?

That depends on how long the issue has been there and how your body responds once we make the right changes. Some runners progress quickly once the pattern shifts, while others need more time to rebuild tolerance.

I wish I could give F.I.T. more than 5 stars! From the moment I walked into their office, I felt supported and heard. They took time to listen to my experiences, and then thoroughly evaluated me before being spot-on with a diagnosis - which was confirmed by an MRI. My therapist is gentle, yet incredibly firm with her manipulations and exercises. She is compassionate and supportive with me as I work to build strength and flexibility in my back and hip. I cannot say enough about how professional, kind, and personable everyone is at F.I.T.!!

Jim and the staff are awesome! I’m a baseball coach and was having some back issues due to throwing about 1000 batting practice pitches a week. Back is definitely better and Jim was the first Chiropractor that I’ve met that actually understands the biomechanics of throwing so his training is way above average!

For months, whenever I'd exercise I'd have frustrating knee pain that was causing me to never finish a workout. I was impressed with how Dr. Allison really took the time to understand my symptoms and put me on a plan to recovery. After our first appointment, not only was I relieved that I had someone dedicated to my recovery, but I noticed considerable results after that first session. Within a few weeks I was back to my regular amounts of exercise. What was of particular value to me was not only did my pain get resolved, but I had the knowledge and specific exercises to keep the injury from returning.

F.I.T. Is absolutely wonderful I have been working with Josh Greenwell mostly and Alex Scavuzzo a couple of times. They are both very knowledgeable in what they do. Josh was able to help me with a lower back problem that 2 other chiropractors were not able to. I highly recommend either one of them.

F.I.T. is the best Chiro/PT clinic in the KC metro. You can tell that they really care about you as a patient and they actually want you to get better! Working from home and doing a whole lot of nothing has taken a toll on my old bones. Dr Aaron Holman is very knowledgeable and always helps with whatever aches and pains that arise.

I had put off months of lingering right elbow and lower back pain, I decided to visit the clinic after my fall season sports had come to an end. Due to my ailments, the clinic paired me up with Joe and he’s been nothing short of godsend. I was diagnosed with tendinitis in my elbow stemming from the sports I participate in, in addition to the 5-6 days of exercise I take in weekly. With Joe’s help, I have regained my flexibility and mobility through specific stretches, dry needling and exercises. I now see him twice a week to continue my therapy. Plus I use Normatec leg sleeves after my sessions to relieve the tension in my legs. Can’t recommend Joe enough!
